Pisanello's Pizza started in Bowling Green, Ohio, in October 1964. Jerry Liss, of Kent, Ohio, started the business with his remaining US Navy pay, after working for Ron Pisanello, in the early-1960s. It was the inspiration of Pisanello's recipe that drove Jerry to start his own business. Jerry chose Bowling Green, because of the growing student population of BGSU, and soon discovered that his pizza was a hit. Within a year, his wife Sylvia DuBois joined him in Bowling Green, and together they ran the store for 50 years, to great success. Over the decades, there have been hundreds of employees who have all helped build Pisanello's Pizza into a very successful small business, with over 15 franchises in Ohio and Michigan. Today, Miranda DuBois Liss and her mother Sylvia own and run the restaurant, and are keeping with Jerry's vision in bringing Pisanello's Pizza to the Bowling Green area
